Southern Gospel Group, The Ball Brothers are currently recording their third album at Skyland Studios. The album is being produced by Darren Rust and Jason Webb. Recently signed to Nashville label Song Garden, the group is looking forward to an early July 2009 release.

The Blenders, once again were awarded an Emmy for Best Musical Composition Arrangement for “When It Snows” which appeared on Fox 9 Television in Minneapolis, MN. The song is from The Blenders highly acclaimed Christmas album, When It Snows. Darren produced, recorded, and co-wrote the song with fellow band mate, Ryan Lance.

The Blenders are on tour this month doing their annual Christmas concerts. They will perform in their hometown of Fargo, North Dakota, Minneapolis Minnesota, Des Moines Iowa, Mason City Iowa, Fairfield Iowa, and Bismarck North Dakota. Gospel trio “The Ball Brothers” are back at Skyland Studios recording the first 3 songs of an upcoming Christmas sampler, produced by Darren Rust and the Ball Brothers to be released this Christmas. A full length CD is scheduled for 2008.

On the eve of their 10th anniversary Christmas/Holiday Soul Tour, The Blenders have added another prestigious award to their trophy case, an Emmy Award for their creative and vocal work on a catchy “Wake Up with Fox 9” television spot that has been running most of the year over Channel 9, the Minneapolis Fox affiliate. The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Television Academy (NTA) awarded the pioneering “vocal band” the Emmy in the category of Musical Composition/Arrangement at the regional Emmy Awards held Saturday, October 20, in the Twin Cities. The spot was arranged and produced by group member Darren Rust at Skyland Studios.

Salt Lake City based a cappella group, Eclipse has just finished a new CD mixed here at Skyland Studios. This is their first sacred a cappella project and is set to be released top of ’08.

Singer Kevin Smith, a former member of the Minneapolis Jazz vocal quintet Voice Trek, recorded and mixed his first solo CD project here at Skyland Studios. Players in the studio here at Skyland include, Scott Pearson (Drums), Sonny Thompson (Bass), Tommy Barbarella (Keys), Dave Cleveland (Guitar),George Scott McKelvey (Guitar), Natalie Murphey (violin), as well as Voice Trek providing background vocals on one cut. Residing in San Francisco, California, Kevin is set to release his CD entitled “We All Bow Down” this fall.
